My dad took a pretty bad fall while in Mexico and had to get emergency spinal cord surgery, so we had to bring him back to the USA as soon as possible.
I had no idea air ambulances even existed (aside from helicopters) so I was very blessed when I came across MTI 24/7. After battling the travel insurance company regarding my father's medical travel arrangements, and having dates and plans changed on us at the last minute, I was monumentally frustrated. The night before his travel date, we were still awaiting final details. I had called multiple times throughout the day to get info, only to be put on long holds and be told conflicting information about the forthcoming plans.
At 11pm, the insurance company called to tell us they could no longer accommodate him as planned and offered a new date 4 days later, on a route that would take him from the Caribbean to Canada, with a long overnight layover, and a red-eye flight from Canada to our final Southwest destination. Being that my father was not fit to fly in that scenario (his doctor agreed), and the fact that even this flight/date was not guaranteed, I decided to take matters into my own hands.
From the moment I called MTI 24/7 Service, at 12am, mind you, I knew my father would be well taken care of. They explained their services in clear terms, laid out all feasible options, and told me that they would have a bid by the time I woke in the morning. Lo and behold, when I awoke at 7am, the email with all the details was waiting for me (it was sent at 5:30am)! I was still in the process of investigating other companies, but MTI 24/7 was always the most prompt to respond, never had me on long holds and quickly mobilized their team. They realized a plane currently in Miami needed to be moved to the West Coast, to accommodate a patient later in the week. Because of this, they not only offered a discount to the initial bid, they also offered to travel my father out the next day.
In less than 24 hours, they organized the plane/crew, all ground transport, the air medical team, the receiving hospital and coordinated the medical handover between his doctor in the Caribbean and his treatment team in Arizona. Even as the workday progressed, and my initial rep had to hand over the case to the next person, then the next, I never had to re-explain any aspect of his transport or care. Each rep was effectively briefed prior to any handover. The medical transport team arrived bang on time and kept me informed every step of the way, from takeoff through to my father's final destination. The entire team was kind, caring, effective and efficient, all crucial in such a sensitive situation. I highly recommend MTI 24/7 and encourage anyone who needs medical transport to use their services. They were incredible.
